Sony PlayStation 5 pre-order to start from January 12; set to launch in India on February 2

Sony has announced the launch of the PlayStation 5 (PS5) is set to be on February 2, 2021, and the pre-orders will start by January 12, 2021, from 12 pm IST. The pre-orders will go live on Amazon.in, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital, Shop at Sony Center, Games The Shop, Vijay Sales, and other retail partners.

The retail partners will keep the pre-orders open till the last of their respective stocks, once the stocks are out, fans will likely have to look for it elsewhere. The Sony PlayStation 5 was unveiled in June 2020. The Sony PlayStation 5 went on sale in many parts of the world excluding India from November 12, 2020. The PS5 was supposed to arrive in India on November 19, 2020, but there was a delay because of BIS certification, stock shortages, copyright issues as per the rumors. 

The standard PlayStation 5 console that comes with a built-in 4K UHD Blu-ray Drive is priced at INR 49,990 and the Digital Edition, an all-digital version of the PS5 console is priced at INR 39,990. The Digital Edition of the PS5 comes without a disk drive and is cheaper. 

Sony PlayStation 5 is recorded to be one of the bestselling PlayStation consoles. According to DigiTimes, 3.4 million units of PS5 were shipped by Sony in the first four weeks of sales. This was recorded as the highest sales for any PlayStation device. 

In 2021, the production for PS5 will likely reach 16.8 to 18 million units as the demand for the PS5 is a lot higher in the United States, Europe, and Japan.
