At the official Snapdragon888 launch event, OnePlus announced that it’ll be featuring the new flagship chipset in the OnePlus 9 series. The series is likely to feature the OnePlus 9 and OnePlus 9 Pro. Recently, the hands-on images of the OnePlus 9 5G have surfaced online.
The series of renders provide a clear idea as to what the new OnePlus 9 5G could look like. Moreover, they reveal a few key specifications including the camera module, connectivity options, and more.
OnePlus 9 5G images surface online
As per leaks from Joshua Swingle, the images show the handset with a rear silver panel. It comes with two large sensors and a comparatively smaller sensor on the rear. Beside the sensors, there is a LED flash with “Ultrashot” etched underneath. On the front, there is a punch-hole display with the punch-hole towards the top-left side of the screen. Moreover, the images also show the microphones at the top and bottom of the device. The other visible features include the SIM card tray, the bottom speaker, the USB Type-C port, and the boot logo.

It is also expected that the frame of the handset will be metal, likely aluminum. All of the ports and buttons will be in their familiar places while OnePlus’ signature Alert Slider remains a staple.
OnePlus 9 5G expected specifications
Apart from the render images, there are reports with screenshots surfacing online that allegedly leak the specs of the device. The handset could come with a 6.55-inch FHD+ display with a 20:9 aspect ratio, a 2400x1080p resolution, and a 120Hz refresh rate. In terms of camera specs, the rear houses a 12MP camera with an f/1.88 aperture. On the front, it could have a 4MP camera with an f/2.4 aperture. Take it with a pinch of salt as it is unlikely for a flagship to feature 12MP and 4MP cameras in 2021. It could be a 4-in-1 camera, taking the total rating to 48MP and 16MP respectively. The camera comes with support for EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) but not OIS (Optical Image Stabilization).
Lastly, the screenshots hint that the OnePlus 9 5G could feature the Snapdragon 888 SoC. This is a bit surprising since the OnePlus 9 Pro was spotted a few weeks back with the Snapdragon 875. Additionally, the phone might come with 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage, a 4,500mAh battery, and Android 11 OS out of the box.
