The company intends to set up large manufacturing facilities that will commence with the largest scooter factory
Domestic ride-hailing firm Ola has now announced its new global manufacturing and operations head Jose Pinheiro who was previously associated with General Motors for over a decade. Pinheiro will spearhead Ola’s electric business operation both in India and globally.
According to Ola, Pinheiro will help boost Ola’s ambition to set up large manufacturing facilities that will commence with the largest scooter factory, and then it will expand its operations into various facilities across India, claims PTI report.
Ola’s spokesperson officially said, “The manufacturing facilities will enable Ola to rapidly bring to market its wide range of two-wheeler products currently under development. Jose’s deep manufacturing expertise will be critical in building Ola’s entire range of two-wheeler products, starting with the soon-to-launch electric scooter.”
A manufacturing veteran, Pinheiro was earlier the vice-president of manufacturing for General Motors Latin America based out of So Paulo and brings over 45 years of leadership experience, Ola said. As the vice-president, he managed 16 GM industrial complexes across nine countries in two continents, the company said.
Ola’s first electric scooter is expected to appear with a removable ‘banana’ battery, sophisticated design, and can be easily charged anywhere. The company aims to bring several software innovations and cutting-edge designs in its entire two-wheelers product line, which are speculated to appear in the coming months.
