MeitY will not allow PUBG mobile to operate in India

PUB officials are working hard to get an appointment with MeitY officials, but they are yet to get a meeting date from the ministry

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has finally announced that it will not allow to release PUBG mobile in India. For the past several months, there are several speculations over the relaunch of PUBG Mobile in the country, but after a meeting with the cabinet the center has decided not to allow it to operate.

Back in September this year, the ministry had banned PUBG along with scores of other Chinese apps. In a RTI query, MeitY pointed out that ‘“MEITY has not given any permission for launch of PUBG”. The RTI query was filed on November 30, reported Insidesport. E-sport entity GEM Esports has shared the reply of RTI on their Instagram handle.

The query in the RTI stated, “Dear Sir/ Mam, In the month of September, 2020, Government of India with the consultation of your Department (MEITY) banned various Chinese apps. One of which was Pubg Mobile Game. Now, there are many news which says that the game is being relaunched and the same is made specifically for the Indian Public and will not be harmful to the nation and its citizens. I would like to know if your department has given any such permission to the game so that it can be re-launched.”

Insidesport claimed that PUB officials are working hard to get an appointment with MeitY officials, but they are yet to get a meeting date from the ministry. The delay simply implies that this game will never launch in India in the coming times.
