Apple AirPods Max- Apple’s first over-ear headphones launched in India

The premium AirPods Max priced at Rs59,900 will go on sale from December 15th.

Apple launched its most-awaited first over-ear headphones – Apple AirPods Max in India. Earlier this premium audio product was rumoured to be named AirPods Studio. The headphones feature advanced sound technology and digital crown for precise volume control.

“AirPods are the most popular headphones in the world, beloved for their effortless setup, incredible sound quality, and iconic design. With AirPods Max, we are bringing that magical AirPods experience to a stunning over-ear design with high-fidelity audio,” said Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing.

Apple AirPods Max: What’s New?

It is being claimed that the Apple AirPods Max delivers high-fidelity audio, spatial sound, adaptive EQ and features a custom acoustic design. The headphones are being said to come with machine aluminium earcups that are attached to a unique suspension system. This suspension system flexes with the stainless-steel headband which is covered with a breathable knit mesh canopy, to fit a wide range of head sizes.

AirPods Max comes with custom 40mm dynamic drivers from the company and its proprietary H1 chips. It also features Active Noise Cancellation, Adaptive EQ, spatial mode and Transparency mode.  The Digital Crown can play, pause, skip tracks, attend calls and activate Siri.

Apple claims that the unique dual neodymium ring magnet motor allows the headphones to maintain a total harmonic distortion of less than 1% across the entire audible range. This is applicable even at maximum volume.

AirPods Max comes with nine microphones. Among these nine microphones, eight of them assist Active Noise Cancellation that blocks noise from all directions. The headphones connect using Bluetooth v5. It claims to deliver 20-hours of battery on a single charge with ANC enabled. Apple also claims that with five minutes of charge time, the headphones deliver around one and a half hours of listening time.

The spatial audio essentially uses accelerometer and gyroscope sensors to track head movement and optimise sound in real-time. AirPods Max comes with optical and position sensors that detect when the pair is removed from ears, or when one earcup is lifted to pause the sound. With a single press on the noise control button, one can switch from ANC mode to transparency mode.
