Motorola launches the most affordable 5G phone in India

Before an avalanche of 5G phones in December, Motorola becomes the first to bring the most affordable 5G phone to India.

Motorola has officially kicked off the ultra-affordable 5g  smartphone war in India with the launch of the Motorola G 5G. The handset that is also its most affordable 5G phone in Europe will be available at an eye-popping price of  INR 20,999 starting December 7. The standout features of the smartphone include a premium 5G CPU, a hole-punch display, and a 5,000mAh battery.

Moto G 5G: Key Specifications

Talking about the important bits first, the Motorola G 5G comes with a CPU that can stand up to the OnePlus Nord – the Snapdragon 750G. In that light, it is being billed as the OnePlus Nord Killer because the OnePlus Nord costs at least INR 5,000 more. The CPU while offering 5G also brings big improvements in performance and ISP capabilities, even though the 5G modem itself is pretty much worthless in India. For general performance, the Snapdragon 750G has an octa-core Kryo 570 processor clocked at 2.2 GHz that delivers 20% more performance than the S730G processor. Also, The Adreno 619 GPU is 10% faster than the S730G GPU and supports 120 Hz displays. That alone is impressive and a bargain at this price point.

The Motorola G 5G offers a pretty big 6.7-inch full-HD+ (1,080×2,400 pixels) LTPS display which is also HDR10 capable. That is a pretty standard display which has nothing to write home about. It does have a hole-punch design and there’s no branding at the front of the display.

The cameras are also nothing to write home about in theory, as far as the spec-sheet goes. It has a 48MP primary camera with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP secondary wide-angle sensor with f/2.2 aperture and 118-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro sensor with f/2.4 aperture. The front houses a 16MP selfie shooter.

The other key feature that Motorola phones have always had is stock Android (10) which draws power from a 5,000mAh battery backed by a 20W TurboPower fast charge.

Other key features include IP52 dust resistance, microSD, NFC, USB Type-C, and Bluetooth 5.1. It does also have a headphone jack.
