Xiaomi launched Mi 10T and Mi 10T Pro in India on October 15, 2020. The highly anticipated smartphones are being seen as direct competitors to the new One Plus 8T.
The latest range of Mi smartphones comes with multiple upgrades from the Mi 10 phones launched earlier this year. The 5G phones are powered by the latest octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processors. In addition, 8GB of LPDDR5 RAM is present in the Mi 10 T Pro, and 6 or 8 GB RAM is present in Mi 10T.
Connectivity options for both smartphones include 5G, 4G, WiFi, LTE and USB type C ports. In terms of storage, there are two options, namely 128GB and 256GB with a new UFS 3.1 module. The phone comes with MIUI 12 with pre-installed Google apps.
What stands out in both the phones is the return of Xiaomi’s flat surfaced design, as opposed to their curved design in Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro. This was done after feedback from the Mi community. The frontal display of the phone is flat while it still has a slight curve at the rear.
Both size and weight of the latest phones are more than their earlier versions. The dimensions of both phones are 165.1×76.4×9.33mm and weigh 216 g (Mi 10T) and 218 g (Mi 10T Pro). The reason behind the increase in weight and size is stated to be the stronger 5000mAH battery. The company claims that the battery can go on for two days with moderate usage. The new dual split design battery, first seen in POCO X3, promises better charge distribution, 33W fast charging out of the box, and 65W with a separate charger.
The new display, lauded for its Intelligent AdaptiveSync feature, has flexible panel reflex rates, ranging from 144Hz to 30Hz. Xiaomi claims the intelligent feature adapts itself to different contents over seven ranges of refresh rates, unlike any other smartphone in the world.
Overall, the panel is a 2400 x 1080 LCD one. Xiaomi also claims that this flexible refresh rate feature reduces energy consumption by 8%. Both phones have a full 6.67-inch display with a triple body Gorilla Glass 5 protection. It is launched in two colours: Cosmic Black and Lunar Silver.
A new feature is the anti-bacterial case and film to make users less concerned about hygiene.
Mi 10T comes with a triple camera setup of a 64 megapixel primary camera, 13 MP wide-angle camera and a 5 MP macro camera. Mi 10T Pro comes with higher resolutions of 108 megapixel primary camera with OIS, a 13 MP wide-angle camera, and a 5 MP macro camera.
Both phones have a 20 megapixel front camera for selfies. Xiaomi claims that their camera gives competition to DSLR cameras.
For audio, the phone offers 3D Audio Device from both ends of the phone. In addition, there are features of cloning and long exposure. For videos, a feature of Dual Video is offered where a user can shoot from both the selfie camera and the rear camera at once.
The Mi 10T with 6GB RAM is priced at Rs 35,999, Mi 10T (8GB RAM) at Rs 37,999 and Mi 10T Pro will be sold for Rs 39,999. This makes them direct competitors of OnePlus 8T, which is priced at Rs 42,999.
Mi True Wireless earphones were also launched with the smartphones and were priced at Rs 2,499.
