Vivo V20 now on sale in India: All you need to know about the mid-range smartphone

The smartphone, known for its 44MP eye autofocus selfie camera, has a 6.44-inch screen, a frosted glass back and more

Vivo launched its V20 smartphone last week as one of the first with Android 11 out of the box and the device went on sale in India on October 20, 2020.

Just like every other phone in the V series, the Vivo V20’s highlight is its camera. The smartphone is equipped with a 44MP eye autofocus selfie cam and many innovative camera features.

Vivo V20: Design

Vivo V20 has a premium look, with a glass back and aluminum sides. At 7.38mm thickness, the smartphone is easily one of the slimmest phones you can find in the mid-range segment. The 6.44-inch screen is neither as small as the Google Pixel 4a nor as big as that of iPhone 11 Pro, which may make it easily usable with one hand.

Like most smartphones in the market, the V20 also follows the edge-to-edge look and comes with the waterdrop-style notch, which is relatively outdated as compared to the punch-hole camera style.

The phone has a frosted glass back and a rectangular camera module towards the top-left corner that houses three camera lenses.

Vivo V20: Display

The smartphone possesses a 6.44-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution. The display size is relatively decent but there are smartphones available in the mid-range category that offer bigger displays.

While the colors are punchy, the screen gets bright enough to read text outdoors. However, the screen doesn’t support a 90Hz refresh rate similar to OnePlus Nord.

Vivo V20: Performance

The Vivo V20 is a mid-range smartphone and it shows. The device is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 720G processor, which is complemented perfectly by 8GB RAM and 128GB/256GB internal storage. Even though the chipset isn’t on the same level as Snapdragon 765G, it is still relatively powerful and fast. You might face a few minor lags when running graphics-heavy games but the phone will give a seamless performance in day-to-day use.

The smartphone’s battery life is another huge plus point. Vivo V20’s 4000mAh battery can last a whole day despite watching YouTube videos on WiFi, playing games, browsing the internet, checking emails, and listening to music. It also comes with a 33W charger that charges the battery to 100% within an hour.

Vivo V20: Camera

In terms of camera specifications, the V20 comes packed with a 44MP f/2.0 selfie camera. The camera is basically a Samsung ISOCELL GH1 sensor that comes with Eye autofocus to allow the camera to focus to as close as 15cm.

The camera also has features like dual-view video, slow motion selfies, steady face stabilization, 4K selfie video, super night selfie, art portraits for bokeh, and more.

On the back, there is a triple camera setup, similar to the one in Vivo X50 Pro. You get a 64MP f1.89 primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide lens with a 120° field-of-view that is capable of doubling as a macro shooter, and a 2MP mono camera lens.

Vivo V20: Price

The base variant of V20 with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is available for ₹24,990, while the 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant is available for ₹27,990. The phones have been launched in three color options – Sunset Melody, Moonlight Sonata, and Midnight Jazz.
