OPPO has announced that it will debut in the Smart TV market with two new TVs that it will launch in China on October 19, 2020. This announcement was made at the OPPO Developer Conference (ODC) 2020.
It was first spotted around September when the TV received its Compulsory Certification of China or 3C and Bluetooth SIG certification. These certifications display that there would be around 10 models of Smart TVs that will be made available to the public.
A few reports and a listing in JD.com confirms that three variants of televisions named OPPO Smart TV R1 55-inch and 65-inch and OPPO Smart TV S1 65-inch will be launched.
The specifications are not yet confirmed by the company. However a tweet by Digital Chat Station, which is an unofficial account of a digital blogger on Weibo, suggested that the televisions will have 4K resolution. Further, they are rumoured to have 120Hz refresh rate and Quantum Dot Full Screen display.
Danish loudspeaker maker Dynaudio is also linked to OPPO’s new releases of their TWS earbuds Enco X. The same company is rumoured to be partnering with OPPO for the Smart TV models to have an audio linking between the earbuds and the TV. The new OPPO TV might support headset and Watch linkage, so the OPPO Watch can be used as a remote control for the TV.
A teaser image titled ‘One More Step’ released by OPPO on Weibo shows a narrow bezel design with a camera on top which several speculate to be a pop-up camera. Safe to say, OPPO is following the steps of other brands like Huawei and Honor that have released such Smart TVs.
The company soon-to-be-launched list includes OPPO Smart TV models, OPPO Smart Watch and OPPO Enco X.
