OnePlus phones to not have Facebook bloatware

The company takes this step after receiving flak for pre-installing Facebook-owned apps and services

OnePlus smartphones will not have pre-installed Facebook apps anymore, OnePlus told Input. This happened after the smartphone makers were criticized for pre-installing apps like Facebook App Manager, Facebook App Installer, Facebook Services, and the main Facebook in the OnePlus 8 series and OnePlus Nord.

Earlier, this bloatware paved the way for the social media giant to install Messenger, Facebook, and Instagram apps directly on smartphones without having to go through Google Play Store. The services could only be disabled but not be removed permanently.

The users were complaining that they can only uninstall Facebook, Instagram, and Messenger, but couldn’t uninstall Facebook Services or Facebook App Installer. But now users will not find such bloatware in OnePlus 8T handsets.

The spokesperson also told Input that OnePlus 8T will come without any pre-installed apps, the only app present on the phone will be Netflix. OnePlus also clarified that using people’s feedback to improve HDR video playback.

The OnePlus 8T will feature a 6.55-inch display with support for full HD+ resolution and a refresh rate of 120Hz. The phone will be powered by Snapdragon 865 chipset that is complemented well by the Adreno 650 GPU. It will come with two variants including 6GB RAM + 128GB storage space and 12GB RAM and 256GB storage space.

OnePlus 8T comes with a quad-camera setup on the rear — 48MP primary camera with a Sony IMX586 sensor, a 16MP ultra-wide lens with a field view of 123 degrees, a 5MP macro camera, and a 2MP monochrome lens on the device. For the front cam, it has a 6MP Sony IMX471 sensor.

OnePlus 8T will come with Oxygen OS out of the box, based on Android 11 and it’ll house a 4500mAh battery with 65W fast charging support.
