Acer launched its first Chromebooks that feature Qualcomm Snapdragon 7C compute platform — Chromebook Spin 513 and Chromebook Enterprise Spin 513 — on October 22, 2020.
Acer Chromebook Spin 513 has an entry-level mobile processor powered with an 8 nm octa-core Qualcomm Kryo 468 CPU, that will provide enhanced multitasking and responsiveness. For users to enjoy gaming and high-quality streaming videos, the Chromebook is integrated with Qualcomm Adreno 618 graphics performance.
It supports 14 hours of battery backup which can be useful for a full time at work or school. About design, the new Acer Chromebook Spin 513 has a sleek and ultraportable design with a durable and stylish aluminium top cover and weighs less than 1.2kgs and its 15.55mm thick.
The Chromebook has a Corning Gorilla Glass Display and touchpad which is damage resistant with better-retained strength. The display has a 78% screen-to-body ratio with narrow bezels. This helps keep the focus on the notebook’s 13.3-inch full HD IPS touchscreen.
The Chromebook also features an optional backlit keyboard. With a pair of hinges that help rotate the screen 360 degrees, the user also gets to use four modes – tablet, display, clamshell and tent modes.
When it comes to connectivity, the Chromebook supports WiFi 802.11ac along with 2 x 2 MIMO technology and optional 4G LTE. It has 2 USB Type-C ports and 1 USB Type-A port, which support USB 3.2 Gen 1, Display Port over USB-C and USB charging and USB 3.2 respectively. It also supports Bluetooth 5.0.
The Chromebook also has two built-in microphones for better quality audio while the user uses Google assistant or video conferencing apps. The new Acer Chromebook Spin 513 comes with SD-RAM expandable up to 8GB LPDDR4X along with up to 128GB of storage (ROM).
The new Chromebook is expected to be available in North America from February 2021. But, the date it will hit the Indian markets is still unknown and the starting price of the series is expected to be Rs 29,488.
