Galaxy Unpacked tonight: What to expect and where to watch

Samsung looks to be gearing up for an unusual Unpacked 2020 event and it isn’t just because it’ll be held virtually (on a stream-only format) because of the new coronavirus restrictions. Samsung has gradually moved the second half of the year event outside the big industry expos and began holding dedicated unveiling events for its Note flagship series. And now Samsung looks to be preparing to throw a lot more than just the venerable phones with the S Pen into the Unpacked category.

Fresh off announcing the Galaxy Z Fold 2 in the virtual Unpacked at the beginning of the month, Samsung has now announced that the tech giant will hold another huge announcement event on September 23, and they’ve named it “Samsung Unpacked for Every Fan”. It’ll mark the third Unpacked event by Samsung within two months (Samsung has unveiled Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra last month), and the fourth for 2020 as the year began with the Feb announcement of Galaxy S20 phones, the Galaxy Z Flip, and Galaxy Buds Plus.

The official invitation for this event didn’t particularly specify exactly what they’ll be announcing during the event, but a teaser that was released last Monday was purportedly filled with several “clues” for the viewers to unpack. Samsung also accompanied this teaser with the promise that Samsung will “unveil a new Galaxy that is created by the fans, for the fans.”

What to expect from the upcoming Galaxy Unpacked Sept’20?

According to several reports, it is widely expected that Samsung will be unveiling its Galaxy S20 Fan Edition in the upcoming event.

The reports also hinted that this upcoming smartphone will likely feature a 6.5-inch full-HD Super AMOLED display along with a 120Hz refresh rate, a flat design, and an in-display fingerprint sensor. The smartphone is expected to have Exynos 990 SoC or Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, depending on the market while it is likely going to have at least 6 GB of RAM.

When talking about camera specifications, this Fan Edition of Samsung Galaxy S20 will likely include a triple rear camera setup that may feature two 12MP image sensors with an 8MP shooter. The phone is widely rumored to come with a 32MP selfie camera. It would come with the IP68-certified build. Besides, the smartphone will also pack a 4,500mAh battery with the 15W fast-charging support.

Last week, a Galaxy S20 Fan Edition product page surfaced briefly on Samsung’s Philippines website. It showed the smartphone in Cloud Lavender and Cloud Navy color options. Although, the teaser for the Galaxy Unpacked Sept’20 event suggested that the smartphone could be available in more than those two listed color options.

Where can you watch the Galaxy Unpacked for Every Fan event?

The Galaxy Unpacked Sept’20 will go live on September 23rd, 2020 at 10 a.m. ET, so you can tune in to the event to the official website of Samsung as they’ll be hosting a Livestream of the virtual event.
