Xiaomi launched its first-ever gaming laptop under its Redmi brand and the company is calling it Redmi G Gaming Notebook. It seems to be a stylish laptop with high-end gaming specifications with up to Intel-Core i7 processor, Nvidia graphics card, and a lot more. It comes in a single color with three configuration variants. All three variants come with a full-HD display with angled corners. The newly launched gaming laptop comes with a lot of features and in this article, we get you some more details about the Redmi G Gaming Notebook.

Design And Display 

Design-wise the newly launched Redmi G Gaming Notebook looks premium and it seems that the company has invested an ample amount of time to build this gaming laptop. It features integrated dual-fans setup with dual-side air inlets to keep the laptop cool during intense-gaming. Besides, it also sports four air outlets to make sure a smooth flow of air. 

The Redmi G Gaming Notebook sports a full-HD display with almost no bezels on the top, but there is a thick chin at the bottom which also gives room to a webcam. The newly launched Redmi laptop comes with a three-level adjustable white backlit keyboard. The company could have included an RGB backlit keyboard to give a more gaming touch to the laptop. 

The Dimensions of the laptop are 373.44×264.47×23.1~24.35mm and it weighs around 2.5kg. 

 As far as displays’ are concerned, the newly launched Redmi G Gaming Notebook features a 16.1-inch full-HD display with a resolution of 1920×1080 pixels. On top of that, the screen comes with 144Hz refresh rate support which will enhance the gaming experience of the user. 

The gaming laptop has 81 percent screen-to-body ratio along with 100 percent sRGB color space coverage. Redmi laptop also offers support for DC dimming technology with 300nits of peak brightness and 1000:1 contrast ratio. On paper, the display features seem very attractive but we have to use the gaming laptop to know about the display.

Hardware And Software

Under the hood, the Redmi G Gaming Notebook is powered by the latest 10th Gen Intel Core quad-core i5-10200H (2.4GHz / up to 4.1GHz) / quad-core i5-10300H (2.5GHz / up to 4.5GHz) / six-core i7-10750H (2.6GHz / up to 5.0GHz) processor with six cores and 12 threads. It is clubbed with up to Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Ti GPU.

It is backed by 16GB (2 x 8GB) 2933MHz RAM, 512GB PCIe NVMe SSD, up to 2TB M.2 PCIe/SATA SSD storage. Inside the laptop chassis, it is equipped with a 100% copper heat dissipation module which ensures 87 percent performance. 

The processor and the RAM configuration make this laptop perfect for gaming and performing heavy-duty tasks like video editing, motion graphics edition, and much more. 

The Redmi G Gaming Notebook comes with pre-installed Windows 10 Home, so you need not have to worry about installing the operating system separately. However, if you don’t drive separation then you can do it of your own via bios or disk manager. 

For video and conference calling the Redmi G Gaming Laptop houses a 1MP HD webcam along with a built-in microphone. 

Battery And Connectivity 

The gaming laptop draws power from a removable 55Wh battery pack which is said to deliver 5.5 hours of battery life with local 1080p video playback and 6 hours of web browsing in a single change.

On the connectivity front, the Redmi G Gaming Notebook offers 2×2 MIMO dual-antenna Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth version 5.1, Gigabit wired network, a USB 2.0 port, dual USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, a mini DisplayPort 1.4 port, a full-size HDMI 2.0 port, USB Type-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for connecting headphone and microphone while playing games, editing videos or watching online content. For the audio enthusiast, it comes with dual 2W speakers with DTS: X Ultra support.

Currently, the Redmi G Gaming is launched in the home country China and it will be up for grabs starting at CNY 5,299 (approx Rs. 57,100) for Intel Core i5-10200H CPU (60Hz display) model. The mid-tier Redmi G with a Core i5-10300H CPU (144Hz display) variant is priced at CNY 6,299 (approx Rs. 68,000). The top-end model with Core i7-10750H and 144Hz refresh rate display will cost you at CNY 6,999 (roughly Rs. 75,500).

The company confirmed that the gaming laptop variants are already up for pre-orders in China the sale starts from August 18. Xiaomi has not revealed anything about the availability in the global market.

Verdict 

The on-paper specifications are really impressive and considering that we can safely say that the first impressions are attractive. However, at this price point, the Asus TUF gaming laptop series is going to be a big competitor for Xiaomi in India and other markets.
