Elon Musk’s Neuralink Project Will Allow Humans To Be In-Charge Of Their Mood

A startup founded by Elon Musk is working on a project that will allow humans to treat neurological disorders and take charge of their mood, among other things.

Elon Musk’s Neuralink, an America-based neurotechnology firm, is working on a project that will enable people to hear sounds that could not be perceived by humans previously.

Last month, Musk hinted at the secretive project and stated that an update would be provided at an event on 28th August 2020.

The brain-machine interface called Neuralink is considered to be the next big thing to treat neurological disorders and to achieve complete symbiosis to AI. The brain chip will also be able to balance hormone levels, which will perhaps be beneficial to provide stress and anxiety relief.

Neuralink will be an upgrade of both the software and hardware aspects of the biological computers. The software update will come from the amalgamation of more powerful machine learning algorithms and an improved information system. The hardware update, on the other hand, will come from the integration of a neural processor (Neuralink ASIC) and incredibly thin-film probes to collect neural data.

A whitepaper credited to Elon Musk and Neuralink stated that the flexible threads are the first major development as they are less prone to affect the brain as compared to the other materials which are currently used in these kinds of brain-machine interfaces. Moreover, these threads have the potential of transmitting a greater amount of data.

How Neuralink Will Help in ‘Enhancing the Human Brain’

Brain-machine interfaces are said to have the potential to restore sensory and motor functions. Neuralink will function as the tertiary machine layer of the brain, operating in conjunction with the limbs and cerebral cortex. In layman terms, Neuralink will primarily operate as the component which will help us connect the machine to the brain.

It is speculated that once we have the Neurolink brain chip technology, we will be able to sense and make out the difference in our speech, motor functions, memory performance and our temperament. Computers will be able to adjust to the functioning of the brain and the power algorithms and computational capacity at our disposal will probably help us achieve this efficiently.

Streaming Music with Elon Musk’s Neuralink

Recently, Elon Musk tweeted that despite having the potential to solve several brain and spine injuries, Neuralink’s brain chip has the capability to let users stream music into their brains with ease. A Twitterati asked “If we implement Neuralink – can we listen to music directly from our chips? Great feature.” To this, Musk replied with a straightforward “yes”.

Perhaps this invention might turn the fascinating idea of controlling and listening to music from inside the brain into a reality.

When was Neuralink founded?

Neuralink was founded in July 2016 by Elon Musk. The secretive startup was first revealed to the public in 2017.

When will the brain chip release?

As of now, we have no fixed date but Elon Musk has set an update for the product on 28th August 2020.
