The ‘Mi-Box 4K’ is a step forward in expanding the company’s product, going beyond smartphones and accessories. The set-top box can convert any standard TV set into a smart android TV that comes with Wi-Fi connectivity and Google’s assistant support.
The set-top box uses an HDMI port to connect to your current television. The system comes with out-of-the-box support for over 5000+ apps and games including support for popular streaming services such as Youtube, Netflix, Disney+ Hotstar, and Amazon’s Prime Video.
The Mi Box 4K also features a data saver, just like the Mi TVs, to keep a check on data usage.
The device launched in India at Rs. 3,499 and went on sale on 11 May.
It is available on Xiaomi’s official website, Mi.com, flagship Mi Home, and Mi studio stores. The device is also available for purchase on the e-commerce website Flipkart.
The Mi Box 4K’s configurations include support for HDR quality at 60fps and 4K (2160×4096 pixels) resolution. The device is powered by quad-core 64-bit Cortex A53 CPU, copulated with a Mali-450 GPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, and 8GB of eMMC storage.
The smart box runs on Android 9-Pie based Android TV platform specifically designed for televisions. Apart from this, the device comes with a Bluetooth enabled remote and Google assistant.
The device comes with built-in support for Chromecast used for screen-mirroring from smart devices. Connectivity specifications include dual-band Wi-Fi 802.11ac and Bluetooth version 4.2. The device boasts of 4 ports, including 1 USB 22.0 port, 1 HDMI 2.0a, 1 power interface, and 1 audio out.
