Lenovo recently announced the launch of its much-anticipated gaming smartphone, Lenovo Legion. The phone is said to be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and fastest chipset, Snapdragon 865+ SoC. It will entirely change the gaming experience. Qualcomm claims that the chipset will provide a 10 percent higher efficiency for gaming and AI applications.
Lenovo has given more emphasis to holding the phone horizontally in landscape position so that the user can chat with the opponent while playing the game. The pop-up selfie camera is side mounted rather than being at the top. The dual rear camera is uniquely positioned right in the middle of the back panel. The primary camera is of 64MP & secondary 16MP.
The Legion phone will run on Android 10 OS and carries 90W rapid flash charging technology, packed with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage. The screen resolution is FHD+ (2340×1080), and the touch-sampling rate is 270Hz. The phone will feature a 6.67-inch OLED panel, 144Hz refresh rate, and 270ms response rate. It is equipped with a high battery of 5,000mAh.
While gaming, the processor usage is very high, therefore a lot of gaming phones face heating issues. With the legion phone, the hardware configuration is expected to be enabled with the 3D cooling tower structure, dual heat pipe partitions. Lenovo states that the phone will have a 14-point temperature control matrix, which will help in accurate internal temperature monitoring.
According to General Manager ChenJin, Lenovo Legion has the superb graphical performance and most impressive audio system so far. He specifically challenged the Xiaomi’s Mi 10 Pro and Black Shark 3 Pro, saying that the Legion’s speakers will have a nice symmetrical layout and will be tuned better. The Legion will feature two forward-firing speakers with large cavities – 1.4 cc – and will have an all-metal construction. The two speakers will produce a spatial sound, which provides the highest level of audio immersion and location accuracy. Normally, you need to wear headphones to get a good sense of direction from the game audio. The two phones will also feature two X-axis linear motors, which will further enhance the experience with strong haptic feedback.
Lenovo Legion phone will launch first in China on July 22. Asus is also hosting its global ROG Phone 3 launch event in India, which also comes with the Snapdragon 865+ chipset.
