Apple fans if you folks out there are eagerly waiting for the launch of the forthcoming flagship iPhone series then we have bad news for your people. Yes! You read it correctly, you have to wait a little longer for the upcoming iPhone 12 series as the company confirmed that the next-generation phone will be witness a delay. According to Apple, it’s tough to hit the retail shelves in September.
“As you know, last year we started selling iPhones in late September. This year, we expect supply to be available a few weeks later,” Apple’s Chief Financial Officer, Luca Maestri said in the earning call. It seems that the upcoming iPhone models will hit the market possibly in mid-October.
However, Maestri didn’t talk about the reason behind the delay in the availability of the iPhone 12 series. We can safely assume that the company might be facing issues with the supply chain and production line which is situated in Mainland China. Coronavirus outbreak can be a vital reason behind the delay. Although we recommend you take this suggestion with a pinch of salt and wait for the officials to comments on this topic.
Recently, The Wall Street Journal has also reported that the company has slowed down the mass production of the iPhone 12. According to the report, Apple is facing some manufacturing issues due to coronavirus. Besides, Qualcomm has also revealed that the 5G smartphone shipment is going to cut by 15 percent. The chipset maker didn’t name anyone but it said that an unnamed customer is planning to delay the launch of its upcoming 5G flagship smartphone this year. It’s pretty clear after Apple’s confirmation that Qualcomm was hinting towards the Cupertino tech giant.
Back in 2017, Apple delayed the launch of the iPhone X beyond September, the smartphone was up for grabs in November. It’s not a new thing for the company. Considering the current scenario of a novel coronavirus, the delay is quite logical. Earlier it was reported how the majority of workers left Foxconn’s assembly factory in Mainland China. It was the biggest assembly line that supplies the majority of iPhone flagship models.
If the company is planning to make the upcoming flagship iPhone 12 up for sale in October or November then we can expect the launch somewhere in September. Let’s see what Apple is going to bring to the tables this year.
